Analyst: Apple may add variety of colors
The next-generation iPhone, expected out this spring, will give Apple customers more choices, including new colors and sizes, according to one analyst.

“You give people more choices, you’re going to sell more products,” said Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets.

“But for Apple,” White added, “the colors make sense, because they’ve already done it with the iPod Touch, and the colors are unbelievably beautiful. They’ve used the iPod Touch as a testing ground. I think that will be a big hit.”
A poll published by tech website BGR last week found that 35 percent of the respondents said they would buy the next iPhone in pink, blue or yellow if those colors were available.
More than a quarter of respondents said they would be interested in the new color choices, but they would want to see how they look before deciding whether to buy the colored phones.
More than 2,000 people voted in the poll, and about 85 percent live in the United States.
White also expects the next iPhone to come in more than one size.
Although Apple offers a 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5 and a 3.5-inch screen on the iPhone 4S and 4, the company has never offered multiple screen sizes for a single model, he said.
“What that will do is open up new pockets of growth for Apple,” he said. “Ultimately, the company’s going to have a lower-price phone for developing countries. By doing that, they’ll expand their opportunities in those areas, so they’re not confined to the high-end market.”
Having said that, White added the next iPhone is not going to be the cheapest smart phone on the market, either.
“They don’t want to be,” he said. “But there’s no reason they can’t offer more choices at different prices.”
